How To Make A Reading Plan π
Hello π·
We often read randomly, we simply choose a book and start reading it, some of us choose it according to its title, others choose the book with the nicest cover and some read synopses and care more about the plot. But have you ever thought about making a "READING PLAN" ππ
1/What Is A Reading Plan?
It is a plan that helps you reach a specific goal by reading the right material: books, articles...ect
2/ My Reading Purpose:
The first thing in making a reading plan is asking yourself: Why do I read? Do I read to learn/perfect a language? Do I read to have better reading skills? Do I read to "develop myself"? Do I read for work/studies?
Once you know your purpose, it will be easier for you to choose the right material that you need. (PS: you can have more than one purpose, for example: I read to have more knowledge in my field of study & to develop myself in different areas of life)
3/ Choosing Your Material.
This is an important step, because if you choose the wrong material you risk having a "Reader's Block" and you lose consistency. If you are a voracious and fast reader, you can choose "books". If you think you are a slow reader and can't enjoy a book, you can read: articles, short stories, books summaries..ect
4/ Selecting The RIGHT GENRE:
After deciding what reading material suits you most, you can select the "right genre" that helps you reach your goal/PURPOSE π» For example, if you are a Literature student who wants to have more literary knowledge, you should read more Fiction: novels, and poetry. If you have a business and want to improve your Management & Marketing skills, Non-fiction: books of self-development are really helpful, more suitable and beneficial and you can select the books that can bring you closer to your goal by reading a synopsis or reviews on "Goodreads".
5/ Summarize The Books You Read:
After you finish reading your book, take a paper and a pen and write down the book's title, author name and most important points of the book. And keep all these papers in one file, this will help you to remember the books you read and you can benefit by checking the summaries rather than re-reading the whole book
